Proposal and Planning
The right time can come at any moment and ours happened one day when we were out walking in London. There was a saxophonist playing Careless Whisper and Harpreet seized the moment and popped the question. It was unexpected but magical! I had always dreamt about my wedding - where it would be and what I would wear so finally getting to plan it was really exciting but stressful at the same time. When it came to organising, I did most of it but I really wanted Harpreet involved in everything so I managed to take him with me to almost all the meetings we had with our suppliers. We would have preferred a small intimate affair but being Punjabi that was impossible given how much extended family and friends our parents have. We ended up with 500 guests, but seeing the support of so many people ended up making our day all the more special. The inspiration was simple and elegant and as I am a great lover of flowers I knew I had to have them as centrepieces. I wanted a continuation of the flowers we had as centrepieces on the cake so I asked the baker to supply the flowers for that too. The cake had pearls on it to match my outfit while the table linen, sashes and backdrop for the head table all matched.

The Bridal Look
We wanted a coordinated look and something that complimented both of us for the morning ceremony and reception. I decided to get my outfit first so that it was easier to choose both of Harpreet’s outfits, ensuring they fitted the theme. I bought my outfit from a designer store in Delhi. Harpreet’s morning outfit was also from a boutique in India, while his reception suit was from the UK. I knew with mine I wanted detailed antique embroidery and pearls and was
very fortunate in finding the perfect lengha.

The Big Day
From the ceremony to the reception, it was all such a joyous occasion. Everything went according to plan. My make-up artist and hair stylist made me look beautiful, while the groom arrived at the temple on time. The duration of the ceremony was just right too. We were both nervous when we were making our grand entrance into the Gurdwara and reception but that was soon overcome when the adrenalin started to kick in. The guests were great, the food was excellent and the entertainment from the DJ to the surprise Bhangra dancers, was sublime. Everyone really let their hair down when the music started; there is nothing quite like Bhangra to get you in the mood to dance at a Punjabi wedding!

Ragamama Ragasaan
Once we decided we wanted our reception at Hilton Hotel, Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5, we found out that their preferred suppliers were Ragamama and another caterer. We contacted both and decided that we were impressed with what Ragamama had to offer especially with the fact that they are the most highly regarded caterers in the business. It was their customer service that we were initially impressed with but as time went by we were able to build a relationship with them whilst planning the wedding and found they really went that extra mile for us. Our event manager and coordinator Pammy, truly made the whole planning process so enjoyable.
Ragamama Ragasaan’s reputation in the wedding business is well respected so we trusted them to manage our event as well as cater for it. They were able to recommend many of the suppliers we chose in the end, which was brilliant as this was the first wedding in my family so it made it so much easier as we didn’t have a clue on where to start. When it came to food tasting, the whole family went and really enjoyed the process as we were able to taste the various dishes that Ragamama Ragasaan had to offer. We were so spoilt for choice that it was difficult to make a decision on what dishes to serve our guests, because everything was so delicious. They were also very accommodating to any suggestions and needs we had.
We opted for a traditional Punjabi menu and our guests in particular loved the dessert buffet station and the fusion of kulfi chocolate tulips. We received so many compliments from our guests regarding the food – the way it was beautifully presented to how delicious it tasted. The event ran so smoothly; Ragamama Ragasaan completely took charge of organising and coordinating the event and the suppliers. From the DJs, florists and cake to the arrival of guests,
drinks reception and guests being seated for starters right through to desserts; it was so perfectly done. Ragamama have a unique charm and flair of elegance about them and the quality of service they provide makes them stand out from the rest. Their professionalism from start to finish made our wedding stress-free.
Having an event manager as part of the package was brilliant. I don’t think we could have organised our wedding without one. It meant they took control while we just enjoyed the day.

We were overjoyed with the whole event. But most of all seeing our family and friends coming together to help us celebrate made it a very special occasion - especially as many had come from abroad. We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect day.
